Avery Thatcher—Principal Broker
2011 President, Bloomington Multiple Listing Service 

Since starting his real estate career 11 years ago, Avery has worked to increase his expertise by earning multiple special designations, certificates, and leadership positions. Currently he is the president of Bloomington’s Multiple Listing Service (MLS), a cooperative of brokerages that share listing information to better assist local buyers and sellers. A 2007 graduate of Advanced Buyer Specialist University he also carries Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) and digital e-pro designations, and he successfully completed the Indiana Leadership Academy through the Indiana Association of REALTORS. He is most proud, however, of the 8 years he spent working as a protégé to esteemed Realtor Jeanne Walters. 

Today Avery devotes his time to building the business he helped grow and to assisting clients as they negotiate the ever-changing world of real estate. You can trust Avery to utilize his energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to help you make informed decisions as you embark on the next exciting phase of your life. 

Ashley Norman—Client Care Coordinator 

Ashley came to Bloomington 12 years ago to become an IU student, and discovered that becoming a “local” was the best of all her college graduation gifts! Her studies in Business Economics, Journalism, and Russian Culture translate well into her job functions with Jeanne Walters Real Estate, as her responsibilities include assisting Jeanne in management, advertising & marketing, and working with a diverse and often international clientele base. Ashley recently received her Indiana Real Estate Salesperson license and enjoys working in a field that allows her a continual opportunity to be involved in the community life of Bloomington: her beloved college town and now her home!
 

Mitzy Lewis--Listing Agent and Sales Agent 

Mitzy has lived in Bloomington for more than 35 years and agrees that Bloomington is a great place to live. She has been an active partner with her husband in their plumbing contracting business for over 30 years, and she has 20 years of experience as a Bloomington landlord. She also has taught math as an adjunct instructor at Ivy Tech Community College. Mitzy's background as a business person and landlord along with knowing the contracting business helps her advise and assist clients in getting their properties priced correctly and sold promptly . Meeting new people is one of the perks of the real estate business and Mitzy looks forward to meeting you and helping you with your real estate needs.
 

Zak Szymanski--Buyer Agent and Associate Broker 

Zak has lived in Bloomington for several years.
Previously, he covered politics, law, and culture for media outlets in New York and California. His journalism training continues to serve his real estate clients well when it comes to investigation, advocacy, and familiarity with government. Additionally, his experience in the arts and MFA degree are useful when it comes to listing, staging, and remodeling ideas. He loves working in real estate in a market that provides great opportunities to a wide range of homeowners. 

Jeanne Walters—Broker/Owner of Jeanne Walters Real Estate

Jeanne was a long-time Bloomington resident and native of neighboring Owen County. After many years in social work, Jeanne began to desire a career that enabled her to continue being a positive source of support, but also involved a much more enjoyable and exciting time in people’s lives. As the owner of Jeanne Walters Real Estate, she established herself as a professional whose industry knowledge was unrivaled and whose genuine dedication to her clients’ needs was unsurpassed. Even as she fought cancer, she gave her energy and attention to her clients and colleagues, and she was active until her passing in March, 2011.
